An open “Forest Lesson” was held for schoolchildren in Sabinskiy municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan
Today, an open “Forest Lesson” was held in the premises of Culture House of Bogatye Saby settlement on the eve of the International Day of Forests for pupils of schools in Sabinskiy municipal district. The event was attended by the Head of the district - Rais Minnikhanov, the Administrative Officer of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan - Ilgizar Zaripov, the Rector of Kazan State Agrarian University - Airat Valiyev, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Ecology of KSAU - Lyudmila Pukhacheva, employees of the university and forest districts of the republic.
The meeting was opened by the Head of the Sabinskiy municipal district, Rais Minnikhanov. He notes that the region pays great attention to the forest industry. According to him, the specialists of the State Public Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Sabinskiy Forest District” and the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Educational and Experimental Sabinskiy Forestry Enterprise” demonstrate high performance from year to year, introducing innovative technologies into the industry. The Forest Breeding and Seed Center, where 12 million of planting material with a closed root system is grown annually, is successfully operating.
Administrative Officer of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan - Ilgizar Zaripov acquainted children with the forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan and the ongoing work on conservation, protection and reproduction of forests. In particular, he said that today the total forest area of the republic was about 1.3 million hectares, the forest cover - 17.5%, and the average age of plantations - 53 years.
During his speech, Ilgizar Zaripov paid special attention to development of school forest districts of the Republic of Tatarstan. He said that at present the movement involved more than 1.2 thousand people. Last year, children took part in the 2nd Meeting of School Forest Districts of the Republic of Tatarstan, environmental campaigns “Forest Planting Day”, “Forest Week”, “Clean Forests of Tatarstan”, as well as various republican and All-Russian competitions.
Ilgizar Zaripov also focused on issues of training at the Lubyanskiy Forestry Engineering College, informed about training areas, disciplines studied and features of admission to college in 2019.
“Forests play a very important role in the life of our planet. This is our national wealth, a pledge of ecological safety of the country. For a long time, the forest service is a difficult but noble work. We are always waiting for you in our ranks”, he concluded, addressing schoolchildren.
As well as professors, teachers of the Faculty of Forestry and Ecology of KSAU, university graduates and forestry specialists of the republic spoke at the event.
