20 March 2019, Wednesday

Today Ravil Kuzyurov, Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, held a ministerial meeting at which the course of execution of protocol instructions was reviewed. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister, heads and specialists of the departments of the Ministry.

During the meeting, issues of state forest supervision, development of calculated cutting area, timber supply to enterprises of the republic, preparation for the fire-dangerous season of 2019, implementation of an accounting information system for the forest complex “Avers: Forest Fund Management”, etc. were discussed.

After listening to the reports, Ravil Kuzyurov instructed the employees of the Ministry to strengthen control over prevention and detection of violations of law, including illegal logging of forest plantations. “With the entry into force of the law allowing citizens to freely collect a deadwood for their own needs, an additional burden was placed on our forest inspectors. We must do everything possible to prevent logging under the guise of fallen trees”, said Ravil Kuzyurov.

Let us recall that the term "deadwood" defines dry branches or trunks of trees that fell to the ground as a result of exposure to storms, windbreaks or significant snowfall, but not felling residues in the areas of logging operations. According to the law, citizens can freely collect deadwood in the forest for a year without cutting forest plantations exclusively by hand using tools, devices and mechanisms brought into use by manual force.

The Minister also dwelled on the issues of conducting sanitary and recreational activities in the current year, the organization of work on repair of children's recreation camps located in the forest fund, and consideration of citizens' appeals.
