A briefing on implementation of “Forests Conservation” regional project and upcoming republican environmental campaigns was held at the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan
Today, a briefing with participation of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ravil Kuziurov, was held at the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan. The Head of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan spoke about the implementation of the regional project “Forests Conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan” as part of the national project “Ecology” and the upcoming republican environmental campaigns “Clean Forests of Tatarstan” and “Forest Week - 2019”.
“Implementation of the regional project includes achievement of two target indicators. The first indicator is “the ratio of reforestation and afforestation to the area of felled and lost forest stands”. The design value of the indicator for 2019 is 62%. By 2024, it should reach 100%”, Ravil Kuzyurov said.
According to the Minister, this year, reforestation and afforestation work was carried out on the area of 2,471 hectares, including measures of artificial reforestation - on the area of 1,729 hectares, combined reforestation - 34 hectares, promotion of natural reforestation - 542 hectares, afforestation - 165.7 hectares.
“Thus, today the ratio of the area of reforestation and afforestation to the area of felled and lost forest stands is 66%”, said the Head of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan.
To carry out work next year, 31 million pieces of standard planting material were grown, including by the forces of the Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan - 12 million units with a closed root system. Also, foresters plan to harvest more than 11.4 thousand kg of seeds of the main forest-forming species. To date, 879 kg of seeds have been harvested (8% of the plan).
“The second indicator is called “forest fire damage over the years”. It is not established in a numerical value due to the fact that it is the result of a spontaneous, unpredictable natural phenomenon. This year, the fire hazard season in the republic started on April 15”, said Ravil Kuzyurov. - We managed to pass the hottest and most dangerous months - May and June - without emergency situations. Nevertheless, we are now keeping the situation under control”.
In order to detect and extinguish forest fires in the territory of the forest fund in Tatarstan, there are 18 fire-chemical stations of type II at forestry enterprises and 5 fire-chemical stations of type III at the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Forest Fire Center”. The plans for the current year are the creation and staffing of two new type II fire-chemical stations on the territory of Nizhnekamskiy and Nurlatskiy municipal districts.
As part of a regional project, in 2019, 56 units of specialized forestry and fire-fighting equipment and other equipment will be purchased in Tatarstan for a total of 83.7 million rubles. These are 15 units of forestry equipment (10 forest planting machines, 3 cultivators, 2 forest plows) and 41 units of forest fire (13 fire tankers, 2 bulldozers, 4 universal forest fire complexes, 3 UAZ shift vehicles, 4 UAZ small forest patrol complexes, 15 motor pumps).
“On September 16 of the current year, the autumn stage of the environmental campaign “Clean Forests of Tatarstan”, which lasts until November 16, will start in the republic. Within its framework, it is planned to clean the territory of the forest fund from municipal solid waste and dead wood”, the Minister said.
The Republican environmental campaign “Clean Forests of Tatarstan” has been carried out by the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan since 2010. Its regular participants are employees of ministries, departments, institutions, organizations, enterprises, tenants of forest plots, representatives of horticultural partnerships, cooperatives, environmental associations, students of higher and secondary special educational institutions, volunteers.
This year, more than 9.7 thousand people joined the spring phase of the campaign. They managed to collect and scavenge household waste and fallen trees in the amount of about 4 thousand cubic meters from the forest fund.
Along with this, from October 5 to October 12 of this year the Republic of Tatarstan will host the environmental campaign “Forest Week - 2019”. Within its framework, measures will be taken to plant trees, clean the territory of the forest fund and improve recreational areas, install additional nameplates and banners near federal and republican roads, collect forest seeds, and also take environmental lessons at educational institutions.
“On the first day of the “Forest Week” campaign – on October 5 - mass planting of trees will be organized in all cities and regions. In total, it is planned to plant 1.5 million pieces of planting material on the area of 300 hectares. Near Kazan, the campaign will take place at three sites - near the settlements of Sosnovka and Kulseitovo of Vysokogorskiy municipal district and near the Staroe Shigaleyevo village of Pestrechinskiy municipal district”, concluded Ravil Kuzyurov.
