The forum “Integration of forest science, practice and education: problems and prospects” started in Yoshkar-Ola

Today, based on the Volga State Technological University in the city of Yoshkar-Ola, the Republic of Mari El, the forum “Integration of forest science, practice and education: problems and prospects” has opened. The event was organized with the support of the Federal Forestry Agency, the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Les Consortium.

The forum was attended by Tatyana Gigel, member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Agrarian and Food Policy and Nature Management, Chairman of the Expert Advisory Council for the Forestry Complex, Vyacheslav Spirenkov, Deputy Head of the Federal Forestry Agency, Alexander Martynyuk, Director of FBU VNIILM, representatives of regional authorities forestry management, industry institutions, scientific and expert community, incl. from the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov.

At the plenary session, its participants discussed the directions of state policy in the field of protection, protection, and reproduction of forests, the digitalization of the forest complex of the Russian Federation, the tasks of scientific and technical development of forestry, the possibility of increasing the scientific, technical, technological and human potential of the forest industry, etc.

After the plenary session, the work continued in 5 sections, which addressed the issues of institutional transformation of educational organizations in the forest profile, the organization of educational and experimental farms based on universities and technical schools, the creation of centers of sectoral competencies of the forest complex and the role of universities in the digital transformation of the forest industry.

Elvira Ziyatdinova, Head of the Sector for Civil Service and Human Resources of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, made a report in one of the sections on the topic “Experience in staffing the forest industry of the Republic of Tatarstan”. She spoke about the movement of school forestries of the republic, and the conditions of study at the Lubyanka Forestry College and the Faculty of Forestry and Ecology of Kazan State Agrarian University.

“Tatarstan is implementing various measures aimed at attracting university and college graduates to the forest complex. These are various lectures, study tours, organization of industrial practice, and conclusion of targeted contracts with subsequent employment,” said Elvira Ziyatdinova. “In 2020, measures to support young professionals in the forest industry began to operate. Thus, when finding employment in subordinate institutions of the Ministry, graduates of higher and secondary educational institutions can receive a lift for 300 or 150 thousand rubles. The condition is that young specialists must work in institutions for at least three years.”

“Also, thanks to the support of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the level of wages of forestry workers was increased,” the speaker added. “To improve the professional skills of specialists, thematic seminars, round tables and presentations are organized. Also, of course, advanced training courses are provided.”

In conclusion, Elvira Ziyatdinova voiced proposals to include in the state program of the Russian Federation “Forestry Development” measures to support young forestry professionals by providing lump-sum cash payments and social payments to improve housing conditions.

The forum will continue its work tomorrow, October 7th. It is planned to visit the educational and production forest nursery complex of the Volga State Technological University, the Center for the Collective Use of Scientific Equipment “Ecology, Biotechnology and Obtaining Alternative Energy Sources”, an inspection of the created forest plantations, exhibitions of forestry equipment, etc.
