Soon the last snow will fall in forests of the Republic of Tatarstan. The Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan reminds that from this year citizens can freely collect a deadwood for their own needs in accordance with Federal Law No. 77-FZ of April 18, 2018 “On Amendment to Article 32 of the Forest Code of the Russian Federation”.
The term “deadwood” defines dry branches or trunks of trees that fell to the ground as a result of exposure to storms, windbreaks or significant snowfall, but which are not felling residues at the logging sites. Fallen deadwood is equated to non-timber sources, which also include mushrooms, berries, stumps, bark of trees and shrubs, brushwood, moss, reeds, etc.
Citizens can collect deadwood in forests without cutting forest plantations exclusively by hand with the use of tools and mechanisms brought into use by manual force.
