The federal campaign “Stop the Fire!” starts in Russia

14 March 2020, Saturday

Tomorrow, on March 15, the Russian Federation launches the federal informational fire-fighting campaign “Stop the Fire!”. It aims to reduce the risk of forest fires, including due to unauthorized arson of dry grass.

The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia and the Federal Forestry Agency are urging citizens to comply with fire safety rules in forests and in areas adjacent to the forest: it is recommended to mow last year’s dry grass, burn foliage only in a designated area away from the forest, do not leave fires unattended, and do not throw unquenched cigarettes and matches. In conditions of stable dry and windy weather or during storm warnings, it is not recommended to carry out fire hazardous work.

The fire hazard season has already been opened in 11 constituent entities of the Russian Federation: throughout the territory of the Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod, Astrakhan and Kaliningrad Regions, the Republics of Ingushetia, Kalmykia, Crimea, North Ossetia-Alania, as well as in Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkess, and Chechen Republics.

A special fire regime was introduced in 2 constituent entities of the Russian Federation: throughout the territory of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and in 5 municipal districts of the Krasnodar Territory.
