Today the Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Rais Gumerov met with a delegation from the Republic of Turkey headed by the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of this country Ece Neslihan. The meeting was attended by the heads of the structural units of the Ministry Timur Galiev and Ramil Gilmashin.
Having greeted the guests, Rais Gumerov acquainted the delegation with the state of forestry in the Republic of Tatarstan and the priority tasks facing the industry specialists. In particular, he said that the total area of the republic's lands occupied by forests is 1 million 271 thousand hectares, the forest cover is 17.5%.
“The species composition of the forest plantations of Tatarstan is represented by aspen ‒ 21%, small-leaved linden ‒ 20.7%, birch ‒ 17.2%, pine ‒ 16.5%, oak ‒ 14.6% and spruce ‒ 7%, ‒ said Rais Gumerov. ‒ The average age of the plantings is 46 years”.
Ece Neslihan thanked those present for the warm welcome. She spoke about the activities of the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, forest nurseries and environmental action ‒ National Tree Planting Day.
Further, during the meeting, issues of forest fire protection, collateral forest management, etc. were discussed.
After the meeting, the members of the delegation visited the Forestry Museum of the Ministry. The excursion was conducted by the director Ilgiz Zaripov.
