The Forestry Department for the Volga Federal District discussed the results of forest reproduction in 2020
Today, the Forestry Department of the Volga Federal District hosted a videoconference meeting on the implementation of the planned volumes of forest reproduction in 2020. The meeting was chaired by the head of the department, Alexander Ornatsky. The event was attended by representatives of forestry management bodies of the Volga Federal District, including from the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan ‒ head of the department of forest reproduction and afforestation Timur Galiev and leading adviser of the department of the state forest register, use of forests and forest management Vasily Chernov.
During the meeting, the results of the implementation of the federal project “Preservation of Forests” of the national project “Ecology”, the implementation of forestry works in the regions of the Volga Federal District and the tasks for 2021 were discussed.
Timur Galiev said that reforestation work was carried out in the Republic of Tatarstan this year on an area of 4,785 hectares. Of these, planting forest crops ‒ on an area of 2,193 hectares, afforestation ‒ on 103 hectares, combined reforestation ‒ on 9 hectares, assistance to natural reforestation ‒ on 2,480 hectares. To date, the target indicator of the regional project “Preservation of Forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” “The ratio of the area of reforestation and afforestation to the area of cut and dead forest stands, %” is 168.3 % (the plan for 2020 is 69.8 %).
To carry out work on reforestation in 2021, specialists of the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan ‒ forestry enterprises ‒ procured 13.5 tons of seeds of the main forest-forming species and grew 38.6 million pieces of standard planting material, added Timur Galiev.
