Tatarstan foresters participated in the meeting of Federal Forestry Agency on topic “Afforestation in the Russian Federation’

The Head of the department for the forests regeneration and afforestation, T.R. Galiev, speaking at a meeting of the Federal Forestry Agency under the chairmanship of the Head of the Federal Forestry Agency I.V. Valentik told about the experience of protective forest plantations creation on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. During his speech, T.R. Galiev noted that the Republic of Tatarstan had an industrial program "Forestry Development of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2014-2020", which was approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan No. 531 dated July 30, 2013. On the basis of this program, the Ministry annually conducts works on the creation of protective anti-erosion plantations on the area of not less than 2 thousand hectares. At present, the total area of available protective forest plantations in the republic amounts to over 138 thousand hectares. Only for the last 7 years such plantations have been created on the area of about 16 thousand hectares.
