On October 14, 2016 the Nurlatskoye Forestry kept the regular event “The Day of Tree Planting”. The campaign was held in the school forestry unit which was established in last October as part of the M.Ye.Sergeev Nurlatskaya Gymnasium in Nurlat town. The school forestry unit includes the schoolchildren of 6-8 grades; the head is Faniz Gayazov, the teacher of technology. For practical and experimental and research work in the forests of the Nurlatskoye Forestry the plot with a total area of 50 hectares has been allocated.
As part of the campaign in the arboretum of the school forestry unit established in May 2016 more than 100 units of young trees such as birch, oak, arrow-wood, mountain ash, spirea, and blue spruce have been planted. At the same time, on the territory of the park, the 11th graders established the commemorative 2017 Graduate Walkway of blue spruce. In total, 80 activists including schoolchildren, teachers and the staff of the “Nurlatskoye Forestry took part in the campaign “The Day of Tree Planting”.
The decision to annually celebrate the holiday was taken in 1999 in Vladivostok at the meeting of directors of the Russian nature reserves. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation. The Day of Nature Reserve Worker 2016 traditionally is celebrated by those who are related to nature reserves and national parks of Russia, who preserve and revive the nature in its original form. The staff of nature reserves seeks to preserve the landscape in a state of nature and maintain this state, observe and monitor the endangered species of animals and birds, plants, insects, provide help for their further existence, and participate in raids and fight against poachers and offending persons.
As of today, in Tatarstan there are 174 specially protected natural reservations, the total area of which is 168.85 thousand hectares. Thus, the proportion of lands turned to specially protected natural reservations in Tatarstan is 2.48% of the total area of the Republic of Tatarstan. 25 specially protected natural reservations are classified as “nature sanctuary”, 11 of them have their own administrations. In addition, in the Republic of Tatarstan there are 144 monuments of nature.
On the specially protected natural reservations the unique landscapes in a state of nature and the diversity of fauna and flora are preserved. It helps to save from extinction a variety of rare species of animals, some of which exist today only in national parks, nature sanctuaries and natural monuments.
A group of experts of some nature sanctuaries of the Republic of Tatarstan has visited the Prioksko-Terrasny Biosphere Reserve named after Mikhail Zablotsky located in the Serpukhovsky District, the Moscow Region.
It is one of the smallest reserves in Russia, but on an area of about 5 thousand hectares there are 142 species of birds and 57 species of wild mammals. The landmark of the reserve is a bison, a wood bison, the largest ungulate in Europe, a contemporary of mammoth, which recently was at the vanishing point.
The experts of sanctuaries have visited the northern part of the biosphere reserve, including the Central Bison Nursery and the Museum of Reserve Nature. They had the opportunity to see the bison in the realistic environment, to learn the history of the “king of bulls” to keep alive, and how the bison pulled the reserve through.
Of particular interest was the ecological path “Through Foliage” which passes at a height of about 8 meters presenting a series of bridges and walkovers connected by viewing platforms.
The fascinating permanent exhibition of the Reserve Museum brightly and vividly tells of the flora and fauna of the southern Moscow Region. Among exhibits there are the inhabitants of various types of forests, both deciduous and taiga zone: wild boar, elk, roe deer, fox, the European beaver and others, as well as lynx and wolf occasionally coming round the reserve territory. There is a wide range of local species of birds, as well as a collection of insects and some animals’ footprints.

We would like to teach people to love and save nature, to show how from a small sapling a forest can grow,” said the young forester Shigabiev S. (8th grade). The Day of Tree Planting is still a young festive. We hope such a good and kind initiative will eventually become a real holiday for all people of our country, and every resident will have its own planted tree. And much better if it were several planted trees!
