XVII International conference of young scientists "FORESTS OF EURASIA – FORESTS OF VOLGA REGION" is opened in the city of Kazan

The official opening of the international conference "FORESTS OF EURASIA – FORESTS OF VOLGA REGION" was held at the Kazan State

Agrarian University. Acting Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan E.N.Bedertdinov delivered a welcoming speech to the forum participants: "The holding of the 18th Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists "Forests of Eurasia – Forests of the Volga Region" is a great honor for us. Every year the geography of the forum is expanding and we are pleased that Tatarstan has become one of the organizers of the conference, along with the Republic of Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Finland and others. In this landmark year, I wish all participants of the conference an interesting and fruitful work and that all the plans and projects in the field of forestry development will be successfully implemented"

This year the event coincided with the 150th anniversary of the birth of Georgy Fedorovich Morozov, an outstanding scientist, a classic forestry expert, a coryphaeus of silvicultural science of universal significance, the 95th anniversary of Kazan State Agrarian University and the Year of Ecology in Russia. The main goal of the forthcoming conference is to familiarize the young scientists with the latest achievements in various fields of nature management, conducting of integrated forestry using environmentally friendly methods applying the latest achievements in biology, genetics and biochemistry, innovative methods of conserving of the biological diversity of forest ecosystems, technologies for processing of non-wood forest products, wood and its waste in Tatarstan, their application in research and educational processes. Creation of conditions for interaction of specialists in the field of forestry, cilviculture, conservation, active members of public environmental organizations, mass media and scientists for protection of forest ecosystems and the environment, establishment of contacts with foreign partners for joint projects are also important tasks of the event.

More than 200 scientists and specialists from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, China, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Serbia, Republika Srpska, Iran, Abkhazia, Armenia, Moldova, Germany, Italy, Romania and Slovenia participate in the conference. It should be noted that the geography of the Russian participants is also impressive, representatives from all over the country are expected to arrive: the Republics of Dagestan, Mari El, Udmurtia, Altai, Krasnoyarsk, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Bryansk and Moscow regions, St. Petersburg, Moscow and other regions. More than half of conference guests will be permanent participants.

Within the framework of the forum "Forests of Eurasia", participants are expected to familiarize themselves with the features of integrated forest management and innovations in the forestry sector of Tatarstan, visits to forest cultures and nurseries, water protection forests on the right bank of the Volga River, the Forest Selection Seed Center, and the Volga-Kama State Natural Biosphere Reserve, where foresters will be presented with modern methods of biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, innovations and advanced methods of forest management and opportunities of their use in the forestry complex.

The International Conference of Young Scientists "Forests of Eurasia" over the past decade is the largest youth conference with international representation on issues of forests, forest science and education.
