Surgery for forest plants is put into practice in Tatarstan
For the first time in four years the republic began to revive the work on the genetics of forest cultures. Today, on April 18, at the Forest Selection and Seed Center of Tatarstan, in the framework of preparation for silvicultural season, a master class is held on the introduction of the current technology - inoculation of seedlings, which allows to improve highly the genetic properties of trees. "Forest surgeons" carry out an "operation" on pines, spruce and oaks. Employees of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan take part in the master class.
The process of trees inoculation is very complicated and difficult. This activity can even be compared with surgical actions against trees. However, many years of practice and research have shown that grafted plantations are much more valuable than planting materials grown from seeds.
