Today, under the chairmanship of Minister Ravil Kuzyurov, an expanded meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan was held. This event is a synthesis of the scientific approach and practical knowledge in forestry. The advantages of modern approaches in forestry technology were discussed there. Representatives of the East European Forest Experimental Station, scientists from Kazan Federal University and Kazan State Agrarian University, veterans of forestry, specialists of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan and subordinate institutions “Lesnichestvo” took part in the meeting.
Special attention was paid to biotechnology at the meeting. In particular, the State Budgetary Institution "Training and Experimental Sabinskiy Forest District" has stated the topic of selection of highly productive birch forms in the forests of the Republic of Tatarstan, using modern methods. Also a number of other promising topics and scientific and industrial developments, including "Creation of a collection of in-vitro clones - valuable genotypes of oak tree, selected in the forests of the Republic of Tatarstan" were considered. This program is aimed at identifying plus trees, selecting biomaterial from these trees, for further cultivation of quality planting material from it. The development of this project will help to improve the forest fund of Tatarstan.
"Currently in Tatarstan there are plantations of triploid aspen (cloned). The study of cloned trees showed that this innovative method allows to grow a high-performance planting material, resistant to frost and various diseases. Triploid aspen is also the leader in terms of growth", noted N.A. Khanov, Deputy Director of Invitro laboratory of micro-clonal vegetative reproduction.
In addition to scientific and industrial developments, the council members discussed actual directions that need to be implemented in the republic. The meeting also focused on such topics as the implementation of the Russian-German project "Conservation and optimization of mixed stands of common oak and small-leaved linden in the Republic of Tatarstan".
Closing the meeting Ravil Kuzyurov, Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, thanked all those gathered for constructive dialogue and expressed the hope that these developments will find wide application in forestry.
