On July 30, the Second Meeting of School Forest Districts of the Republic of Tatarstan was held in the premises of the State Budgetary Professional Education Institution “Lubyanskiy Forestry Engineering College” in Kukmorskiy District. The Meeting brought together teams of young foresters from all thirty state budgetary institutions – forest districts. The event was also attended by forest managers and teacher-curators.
The venue of the 2nd Meeting of the School Forest Districts of the Republic of Tatarstan was not chosen by chance. Lubyany is the native land of foresters of Tatarstan. It was namely in Lubyanskiy Forestry Engineering College that many famous people studied, such as the honored forestry worker of Russia and Tatarstan Nurgali Minnikhanov. Almost a hundred years, the Lubyanskiy Forestry Engineering College prepares specialists in demand for the timber industry of Tatarstan and neighboring regions.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov noted that this meeting was held for the first time in eight years. However, now this event, thanks to the support of the republic's leadership, will become an annual event.
"The guys involved in school forestry, from childhood, are accustomed to love the forest and the surrounding nature; they are invariable assistants to foresters. I am sure that the 2nd Meeting of School Forest Districts of the Republic of Tatarstan will be a significant contribution to the upbringing of the younger generation", the Minister said.
In the course of his speech, Minister Ravil Kuzyurov read the greetings of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
"In our republic, it has always been given great attention to the development of school forest districts. It is here that children are brought up in love for nature, form an active lifestyle in relation to the environment. You play a great role in conservation and protection of forest resources: you work hard, participate in the laying of new forests and parks, help in growing seedlings in nurseries, help to protect the forest from fires. Young foresters are real patriots of their native land".
Sergei Kovalev, Deputy Head of the Department of Forestry in the Volga Federal District addressed the children on behalf of the Federal Forestry Agency.
"You already know that 2018 is announced in the Russian Federation as the Year of Volunteer. All schoolchildren - participants of school forest districts unselfishly on a voluntary basis help forestry specialists to restore and save forests, implement various environmental projects".
The Head of the Sabinskiy municipal district Rais Minnikhanov said that the previous meeting was held eight years ago in Saby, the event in Lubyany is not inferior in terms of organization level, and the guys will necessarily show good results in the competitions.
At the opening of the Meeting under the national anthems of Russia and Tatarstan, the honor of raising the flags was given to the winners of the last meeting - the team of the Sabinskiy forestry "Nurgali onyklary" and the Head of the State Public Institution “Sabinskiy Forest District” Vasil Gizatullin. Then the stages of the competition were given start.
The competition program of the Meeting includes the holding of 3 nominations: "Greeting of teams - visiting card", competition procedure "Young foresters", which is held in the following areas: "Botany and Dendrology", "Forest Science and Forestry", "Conservation and Protection of Forests", "Geodesy", "Forest Fires Extinguishing". The evaluation of the jury will also include research works, the protection of which will be held within the framework of the forestry conference "The future of the forests of Tatarstan is in our hands". A round table on the topic: "Organization and planning activities of school forestry in the Republic of Tatarstan" will be held for teachers, heads of school forest districts.
Results of the competition will be summed up on July 31. Winners will receive laptops, tablets, watches and a set of young foresters - measuring instruments, which will help them to develop the forest profession in future.
