Opening of a memorial plaque to the forester, Hero of the Soviet Union Gavril Petrovich Evseyev took place in Bavlinskiy forest district
Today in the building of the State Budgetary Institution "Bavlinskiy Forestry Enterprise" the solemn opening of the memorial plaque to the Hero of the Soviet Union Gavril Petrovich Evsyeev took place. He worked for several years as a wood chopper in the Bavlinskiy forestry enterprise.
Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov, Head of the Bavlinskiy municipal district Ramil Gatiyatullin, veterans of forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, employees of the Bavlinskiy forest district, daughter of the Hero Nina Gavrilovna attended the solemn ceremony.
A native resident of Potapovo-Tumbarla village, commander of a battalion of the mortar regiment, lived and worked in his native region after the war, worked for many years occupying serious positions: in the executive committee of the district council, as a chairman of the collective farm "Pobeda", then in the forestry enterprise. Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov expressed gratitude to all those who supported the initiative of opening the memorial plaque to the Hero. He also spoke about the state of the forestry sector in the modern world, raised questions of succession of generations.
"The fact that a man without a forest profession worked as a forester - characterizes him only from a positive angle, he loved nature and his native land. It is a great honor for the forestry enterprise that the Hero of the Soviet Union worked with us. And for me it's a great honor that I am present at this event. For the younger generation for edification - be proud, take an example. I would like the participants of school forestry and schoolchildren to visit more often the forestry enterprise, and see how this person loved the forest and his native land on the example of this life history", Ravil Kuzyurov noted.
Gavril Evseyev fought in the Western, 2nd and 1st Belarusian, 3rd and 1st Baltic fronts. He was wounded four times. He was particularly distinguished in the course of the Berlin strategic operation. He ended the war in Berlin as a Commander of the Artillery Division in the rank of major.
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945, for the exemplary performance of combat missions of the command at the front of the struggle against the German invaders and shown with courage and heroism, Evseyev Gavril Petrovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal. In addition, he was awarded two Orders of the Battle Red Banner, Orders of the Patriotic War of 2nd degree, Red Star and eight medals.
