A meeting of the Committee of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan on ecology, nature management, agro-industrial policy was held, at which the deputies considered a number of important issues, in particular, about the possibility of collecting the fallen deadwood by the population. During the meeting, it was declared that from January 1 of the next year, residents will be allowed to collect fallen deadwood for free in the forests for their own needs.

Emir Bedertdinov, First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, explained that under the term "fallen deadwood" one should understand the dead tree trunks lying on the surface and their parts formed by the natural dying of trees, windbreak, snowshoe, as a result of pathological and other factors. Accumulation of the deadwood in the forest worsens its sanitary condition, increases the fire hazard.

The benefits of the law will be both for the forest and for citizens. However, harvesting a fallen deadwood does not mean that you can come to the forest and cut down trees. Felling wood is prohibited, if the damage is more than 5 thousand rubles, then criminal liability is provided.
