Today the exhibition center "Kazanskaya Yarmarka" hosts a specialized exhibition and congress "Clean water. Kazan", which brought together scientists, specialists of executive authorities, representatives of environmental organizations and foresters to discuss conservation of the Volga river. In his speech, First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Emir Bedertdinov stressed the importance of creating coastal protective belts along the Volga River, the Kama River and their tributaries. At the moment, water protection forest plantations in Tatarstan have a small area. In turn, this year foresters of Tatarstan created such plantations on the area of more than 59 hectares in Arskiy and Vysokogorskiy districts along the rivers. Coastal protective belts are an artificial barrier against the entry into the water of polluting elements, industrial and solid household waste. Also, the Deputy Minister noted the fact that when creating protective plantations it is necessary to strictly observe the breed composition, namely, it is necessary to plant deciduous species and shrubs. The agencies subordinated to the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan are ready to carry out works on creation of water protection plantations in case of appropriate financing and provision of land plots.
