Work on growing the most valuable specimens of the main forest-forming species continues in the laboratory of the Training and Experimental Sabinskiy Forestry Enterprise
Reproduction of fast-growing, full-wood, disease-resistant forms of woody vegetation selected in the forests of the republic continues in the laboratory of micro-clonal vegetative propagation of State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Educational and Experimental Sabinskiy Forestry Enterprise”. “Such studies are carried out in order to increase the productivity of forest plantations”, said Deputy Head of the Laboratory, Nail Khanov.
According to him, in the process of “in vitro” reproduction, a special nutrient medium and hormonal composition are selected for each plant. As a result of research, various clones of trees that are most suitable for one or another of the growing conditions on the territory of Tatarstan are selected. For example, this year the in vitro collection of clones of valuable genotypes of hardwood (common oak and weeping birch) was created in the laboratory. In the period from 2019 to 2021 it is planned to plant aspen grown in the laboratory on the experimental plots of the forest fund of the State Public Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Zainskiy Forest District”.
