A member of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the Interregional Conference “Updating the content of school forestry activities”

On December 21, the city of Yoshkar-Ola hosted the Interregional Conference “Updating the content of school forestry activities”. The event was organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Mari El, the State Budgetary Educational Institution of Additional Education "Children's Ecological and Biological Center" and the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Forest Protection".

The conference was attended by representatives of public authorities, forestry specialists, teachers of Mari El, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, Kirov and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

The forum discussed development of modern educational programs for school forest districts, raising the professional level of specialists involved in organizing the activities of such associations, conducting activities for children aimed at increasing their motivation, disclosing and developing their abilities, etc.

Leading Advisor of Forests Reproduction and Afforestation Department of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, Anas Sengatullin, made a report at the conference. He acquainted the participants of the event with the main directions of development of the school forest movement in the Republic of Tatarstan. Anas Sengatullin said that currently the total number of pupils of school forest districts is more than 1,200 people in the republic. The average age of children is 14 years. According to the plan, in 2018, participants of school forest districts held “Day of Birds”, “Day of Forest Planting”, “Protect Forest from Fire” campaigns, master classes on proper planting of trees at school sites, etc.
