Voting on the national contest “The main tree of the country - the Russian tree of the year” has started on May 1 on the site http://rosdrevo.ru/russian-tree-of-the-year/# . The voting list was approved by the certification board of the All-Russian program on April 18, 2019 at a round table in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. Among the nominees are 12 trees from Tatarstan, Chechnya, the Leningrad Region, Udmurtia, North Ossetia-Alania, Kalmykia, Irkutsk, Pskov, Rostov and Ivanovo Regions, from Tambov and Moscow.

The Siberian spruce (Picea obovata Ledeb.), growing on the territory of the state nature reserve of regional importance of integrated profile “Dolgaya Polyana” represents the Republic of Tatarstan. This tree received the status of All-Russian significance “Tree - a monument of wildlife” in 2012. Age of spruce is 132 years, and height - more than 30 meters.

“Spruce grows near the estate of the nobles Molostvovy. The tree is a unique attraction site and it attracts a large number of tourists, - said reserve specialist Evgeny Pokhlebkin. - Spruce is fenced, there is flooring. Of course, we systematically look after it”.

Director of the Municipal Budgetary Institution “Museum of History of Tetyushskiy district” Natalia Ponedelnikova said that this spruce tree was planted by a nobleman German Vladimirovich Molostvov in 1887 for the 30th anniversary of married life with Antonina. - He planted it in edification of his children, so that they valued their “second half” and lived the same happy life”, said Natalya Ponedelnikova.
