The Head of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ravil Kuzyurov, delivered a report at a round table in Nizhny Novgorod

Today, a round table discussion on topic “Implementation of Federal Project “Forest Conservation” of the national project “Ecology’ was held in Nizhny Novgorod. The meeting was held as part of the 21st International Scientific and Industrial Forum “Great Rivers (Environmental, Hydro-meteorological, Energy Security)”, which opened yesterday, on May 14, at the base of the exhibition center “Nizhny Novgorod Fair”.

Aleksandr Ornatsky, Head of the Forestry Department for the Volga Federal District, Mikhail Doronin, Director of Roslesresurs Federal State Public Institution, heads of the Volga Federal District Forestry Administration, including from the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Forestry Ravil Kuzyurov, representatives of the industry, the scientific and expert community took part in the round table.

The meeting discussed the implementation of the federal project “Forest Conservation” of the national project “Ecology” in constituent entities of the Volga Federal District, forest inventory, reforestation and afforestation, acquisition of specialized machinery and equipment to protect forests from fires, etc.

The Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov made a report at the meeting. He acquainted those present with the ongoing work in the Republic of Tatarstan in the framework of the federal project “Forest Conservation”. “As it is known, the project for the regions defined two main target indicators - “the ratio of reforestation and afforestation to the area of felled and dead forest stands” and “damage from forest fires over the years”, said Ravil Kuzyurov. “To achieve the second task, we carried out extensive preparatory work prior to the beginning of the fire-dangerous season, developed and approved a consolidated plan for extinguishing forest fires, carried out fire-prevention improvement of forests, as well as tactical and special exercises for extinguishing forest fires and eliminating emergency situations”.

The Minister said that, thanks to funds allocated from the federal budget for equipping institutions with fire-fighting equipment and machinery, two new fire chemical stations of type II will be created in Nizhnekamskiy and Nurlatskiy municipal districts.

According to him, work on artificial reforestation on the area of 1,729 hectares and afforestation on the area of 166 hectares has already been completed according to the indicator “the ratio of reforestation and afforestation to the area of felled and dead forest stands” in Tatarstan. “Along with this, in the current year, it is planned to take measures to promote natural forest regeneration on the area of 542 hectares and a combined reforestation on 34 hectares, procure about 11.5 tons of seeds of the main forest-forming species and grow 31 million pieces of standard planting material, as well as continue to equip institutions with specialized forestry machinery and equipment”, concluded Ravil Kuzyurov.
