Reproduction of in vitro triploid aspen clones is underway in the laboratory of microclonal vegetative propagation of the Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan. “As you know, the main drawback of conventional aspen is its strong rottenness of the trunk. Studies conducted in Russia and other countries in the middle and at the end of the last century proved that triploid aspen is highly resistant to fungal diseases, said Deputy Head of the Laboratory Nail Khanov. - In addition, this species is highly productive, it grows fast and depends less on growing conditions”.
The expert added that the number of forms is planned to be increased to 100 thousand pieces and planted in the territory of the republic. “Also this year we are going to conduct research related to selection of plus trees of Siberian larch and European spruce, and then producing in vitro clones”, said Nail Khanov.
