Today, the Federal Forestry Agency hosted a videoconference meeting on creation of water protective forest belts within the framework of the federal project “Improvement of the Volga”. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Head of Rosleskhoz, Nikolai Krotov.
The event was attended by representatives of regional executive bodies, including from the Republic of Tatarstan - First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgizar Zaripov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Egor Tarnavsky and Head of the Department of Forest Reproduction and Afforestation of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Timur Galiyev.
Opening the meeting, the Deputy Head of Rosleskhoz, Nikolay Krotov, noted that in order to solve the problem of diffuse pollution within the framework of the federal project “Improvement of the Volga”, it is planned to lay water protective forest plantations along the banks of the Volga River in the regions. Work will be carried out on reforestation on forest land and afforestation on lands of other categories with their subsequent inclusion into the composition of forest land.
During the meeting, issues of work were considered - design of plots, testing of forest suitability of soil, cultivation and acquisition of planting material, laying of water protective forest plantations, maintenance of created forest cultures and registration of land plots.
It is worth noting that in the Republic of Tatarstan land plots with a total area of 1,154 hectares were selected for inclusion in the project and a stock of planting material in the amount of 4 million pieces were formed.
