The Republic will increase the reserve fund of seeds of forest plants this year
This year, the Republic of Tatarstan will increase the reserve fund of seeds of forest plants. It is planned to additionally prepare 250 kg of seeds.
Forest Plant Seed Reserve Fund was formed by the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan in order to ensure reforestation and afforestation in the event of lean years. Seeds are stored in a specialized warehouse of the Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan in Leskhoz village of Sabinskiy municipal district. Currently, the fund has 219 kg of coniferous seeds, including pine - 104.5 kg, spruce - 105 kg, larch - 9.5 kg.
For reference. Reserve funds include seeds of the 1st class quality with high rates of germination energy, not infected by pests and without pathogenic microflora, mainly harvested at objects of a constant forest seed base, in highly productive plantations that have certificates confirming their sowing qualities. When the reserve fund has already been formed, it is being updated, during which the existing seeds are completely or partially replaced with freshly harvested ones.
