Employees of the State Public Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Menzelinskiy Forest District” held the topical event “Tomtit Day” for pupils of the “Topolek” school forest district of Secondary School No. 2 in Menzelinsk.
During the event, Deputy Head-Forester Marsel Khannanov told the pupils about the republic's forestry, species of birds, their role in nature and the rules for feeding birds.

For reference. The “Tomtit Day” environmental festival recently appeared in the Russian Federation at the initiative of the Russian Bird Conservation Union. It is celebrated on November 12.
On this day, residents of different settlements of the country are preparing for a meeting of “winter guests” - birds staying for the winter in Russian regions: tomtits, goldfinches, bullfinches, jays, tapas, waxwings. They procure fertilizer for them, including “tomtit delicacies”: unsalted lard, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, make and hang feeders.
