The Ministry discussed the prevention and suppression of illegal logging, transportation, processing, sale and export of wood

Today, the Ministry held a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on prevention and suppression of illegal harvesting, transportation, processing, sale and export of wood in the Republic of Tatarstan. The meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgizar Zaripov. The event was attended by representatives of the Tatar Environmental Inter-district Prosecutor's Office, Kazan Inter-district Environmental Prosecutor's Office, the Main Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Traffic Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Rosselkhoznadzor Office in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Federal Tax Service of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Interregional Territorial Management of the Federal Property Management Agency in the Republic of Tatarstan and the Ulyanovsk Region, a branch of the Federal Budgetary Institution “Roslesozashchita” - “Forest Protection Center of the Republic of Tatarstan”, etc.

The meeting was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ilgizar Zaripov. In his speech, he raised the issues of work of the interdepartmental commission in 2020 and proposed introducing into the plan a training seminar for law enforcement officials on the procedure for implementation of Federal Law-415 of December 28, 2013 and organizing inspections of the targeted use of timber harvested by citizens under forest purchase and sale agreements for own needs. Ilgizar Zaripov also noted the need for information exchange between members of the commission when compiling and updating the list of forest users (tenants, persons involved in logging, owners of points of purchase and loading of wood, railway equipment, timber processing workshops).

Further, the reports were made by the Head of the State Control and Supervision Department of the Ministry, Airat Akhmerov, and the Head of the Forestry Sector, Alsu Mustafina.

Airat Akhmerov dwelled on the issues of the operational-preventive event “Yel”, aimed at ensuring the safety of coniferous stands in the New Year period. “Mobile patrol groups have been created from among forestry officers and territorial departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan, said Airat Akhmerov. - From December 20 to December 31 they will systematically patrol forest areas with a predominance of coniferous stands”.

Alsu Mustafina spoke about quarantine phytosanitary zones existing in the forest fund. According to her, in order to ensure a favorable sanitary and forest pathological situation in the forests and to prevent the procurement and transportation of wood infected with quarantine pests, a systemic interaction is needed between the Ministry, the Rosselkhoznadzor Office for the Republic of Tatarstan and the Federal Forestry Protection Agency branch of the Forest Protection Center of the Republic of Tatarstan, namely, a joint inventory of quarantine species in 2020 in order to update the status of the number of phyto-quarantine pests.
