Today, the results of 2019 on the national project “Ecology” were summed up, and prospects for its further implementation were discussed at the Expanded Board of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, which took place as part of the “Clean Country” Forum and Exhibition in Skolkovo.

Opening the meeting, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Dmitry Kobylkin read out a greeting from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

Addressing the forum participants the Head of State noted that issues of improving the environmental situation, promoting values of responsible attitude to the environment, natural resources, as well as creating a modern high-tech industry in waste management in Russia were the most important national task that requires joint efforts of representatives of all levels of government institutions of civil society, business and the media.

Dmitry Kobylkin spoke about the cash execution of the national project and the actual results of the year.

“We have the most complex national project in terms of targets. The total budget is more than 4 trillion rubles, which is a huge amount. Of these, the federal budget invests 700 billion rubles. Most of the budget in the national project is from extrabudgetary sources, and we have to actively work on attracting these extrabudgetary funds. This year was very significant, we attracted almost half a trillion rubles”, he said.

Dmitry Kobylkin called “Waste” the most difficult area of the national project, and he noted the creation of the “Russian Environmental Operator” as the achievement of 2019.

The Minister of Natural Resources of Russia also highlighted such positive aspects as the purchase of 350 units of environmentally friendly public transport under the Clean Air project, the purchase of 12,000 units of forest fire equipment, over-fulfillment of the plan for forest restoration, significant achievements in the field of ecotourism in the country's national parks and creation of 3 new national parks with a total area of 1.7 million hectares.

The meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia was attended by representatives of federal departments in charge of implementation of the “Ecology” national project, heads and leading employees of subordinate institutions involved in implementation of the national project, representatives of regions (regional curators of the national project, heads of subordinate institutions), including from the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov.

Let us recall, the international Forum-Exhibition “Clean Country” in support of the national project “Ecology” is held from December 16 to 18. In addition to the plenary session, the Forum hosts sessions in certain areas of the national project in the “open dialogue” format, an exhibition of equipment and modern technologies, Russian and foreign developments in all areas of the national project, international events with participation of representatives of the EU and CIS countries, as well as topical educational programs.

The Forum has actually become a platform for summing up the results of the year in all sectors of the country, one way or another connected with the environment. Therefore, it was decided to combine the plenary meeting “Preserving the Future: The first results of implementation of the Ecology national project”, with the final Expanded Board of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia for 2019. The main topics of the plenary meeting were the first results of implementation of the Ecology national project, plans for 2020, legislative initiatives adopted in the industry and new bills, development and implementation of the best available technologies, mechanisms to support the most important events of the national project, as well as a number of other topics.
