A delegation of the Dresden University of Technology (Federal Republic of Germany) headed by Professor Jürgen Prech is on a working visit to the Republic of Tatarstan. As part of a working trip, university employees visited the Sabinskiy municipal district today. When inspecting the facilities, the delegation was accompanied by the Head of Forest Reproduction and Afforestation Department of the Ministry Timur Galiyev.
Upon arrival, representatives of the delegation got acquainted with the work of the Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan. They examined greenhouses, a training ground for hardening and growing seedlings, a refrigerating case for their storage, and other facilities of the center. Explanations were given by the Head-Forester of the State Public Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Sabinskiy Forest District” Vasil Gizzatullin. He said that FSSC of RT was one of the largest automated nurseries in Europe, where planting material with a closed root system was grown. The production capacity of the center is 12 million pieces of planting material with closed root system per year.
University staff also visited the woodworking plant of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan “Training and Experimental Sabinskiy Forestry Enterprise”, the Dendrological Garden named after Nurgali Minnikhanov, Tea House and the Museum of the Forestry History.
Let us recall that the delegation of the Dresden University of Technology arrived in Tatarstan on March 3. Yesterday, on March 4, the Ministry held a meeting on implementation of a joint research project “Development of the Concept of Sustainable Forestry in Aspen Stands and Their Use in the Republic of Tatarstan “ASTAT”. University staff also visited the Alekseyevskiy and Nurlatskiy municipal districts, where they assessed the condition of aspen stands in the forest fund of Bilyarskiy and Nurlatskiy forest districts.
