Today, tree planting as part of the “Garden of Remembrance” International campaign took place in the Mamadyshskiy municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event was organized on the territory of the forest fund in quarter 9 of the Kamskiy precinct forestry of the Kamskiy forest district. In total, 5 thousand seedlings of common pine were planted on the area of 1.4 hectares, 14 people took part in the work.
“The main stage of the campaign will be held in the republic on April 25, but we decided to plant trees earlier, said Albert Shamilov, the Head-Forester of the State Public Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan. - Given the current sanitary and epidemiological situation, we conducted the event on our own and took all necessary measures to prevent and combat the spread of coronavirus infection”.
Let us recall that in total more than 483 thousand seedlings will be planted in the Republic of Tatarstan as part of the campaign in memory of the great feat of 350 thousand Tatarstan people who did not return home from the front to their relatives and friends.
The international campaign “Garden of Remembrance”, dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, started on March 18 and will last until June 22 of this year. Its organizers are the All-Russian Public Movement “Victory Volunteers” and the Victory Commemoration Fund with support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Federal Forestry Agency.
During the campaign, it is planned to plant 27 million trees in Russia and the CIS countries in memory of 27 million dead during the Great Patriotic War. As of April 20 of this year almost 8 thousand people joined the campaign, planting 8.7 million seedlings. Planting trees took place in the Crimea, Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Saratov, Rostov regions, Stavropol Territory, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Tajikistan, Nepal, etc.
