26 May 2020, Tuesday

The Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan recalls that in accordance with Federal Law No. 77-FZ dated April 18, 2018 “On Amending Article 32 of the Forest Code of the Russian Federation” from January 1, 2019, citizens may freely collect deadwood for their own needs.

The term “deadwood” refers to dry branches or trunks of trees that fell to the ground as a result of exposure to storms, windbreaks or significant snowfalls, but which are not logging residues at logging sites. Fallen forests are equivalent to non-wood sources, which also include mushrooms, berries, stumps, bark of trees and shrubs, brushwood, moss, reeds, etc.

Citizens can collect dead wood in forests without cutting forest stands exclusively by hand using tools, fixtures and mechanisms brought into use by manual force.
