“Garden of Remembrance” International Campaign dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was completed in the Republic of Tatarstan. Within its framework, 512 thousand trees were planted in the republic in memory of the great feat of 350 thousand Tatarstan people who did not return home from the front to their relatives and friends. 399 thousand seedlings were planted on the territory of the forest fund and 113 thousand seedlings on the territory of municipal districts. An especially large-scale campaign took place on the lands of the forest fund in Buinskiy (45 thousand seedlings were planted in plot 1), Laishevskiy (26 thousand seedlings were planted in plot 1) and Arskiy (24.1 thousand seedlings were planted in plot 1) forest districts.
Due to the difficult sanitary and epidemiological situation, all necessary measures were taken to prevent and counteract the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19. The participants planted trees in masks and gloves at a distance from each other in groups of two or three people.
Let us recall that the “Garden of Remembrance” International campaign started on March 18 and will last until June 22 of this year. Its organizers are the All-Russian Public Movement “Victory Volunteers” and the Victory Commemoration Fund with support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Federal Forestry Agency. The purpose of the campaign is to plant 27 million trees in memory of 27 million dead during the Great Patriotic War.
As of May 29, 2020, 20.9 million seedlings were planted in Russia and abroad. Planting trees took place in the Crimea, Astrakhan, Belgorod, Volgograd, Rostov regions, Stavropol Territory, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Tajikistan, Greece, Cyprus, Nepal, etc.
