Today, the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov made a report at a joint meeting of the board of the Volga Interregional Environmental Prosecutor's Office and the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tatarstan on the state of legality in the field of forest management. The meeting, which took place via videoconference, was attended by the Volga Interregional Environmental Prosecutor Veniamin Selifanov, the Prosecutor of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildus Nafikov, the First Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Fayaz Shakirov, the Head of the Department of Rosprirodnadzor for the Republic of Tatarstan Farit Khairutdinov, prosecutors of cities, regions and towns.
During his speech, Ravil Kuzyurov acquainted the meeting participants with activities of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of detection and prevention of violations of forest legislation. In particular, he said that for 5 months of this year state forest inspectors conducted 6.8 thousand patrols of the lands of the forest fund of the republic. “For the offenses committed, 143 people were brought to administrative responsibility, 13 rulings ordering punishment were issued in the form of a warning, and 130 in the form of an administrative fine totaling 369.5 thousand rubles, said Ravil Kuzyurov. - The most frequent violations were violations of sanitary and fire safety rules in forests, and terms of contracts by users of forest sites”.
The Minister also dwelled on the work of the Interdepartmental Commission on prevention and suppression of illegal logging, transportation, processing, sale and export of wood in the Republic of Tatarstan and the measures taken to ensure fire safety in forests. “In 2019, compared with 2010, the number of cases of illegal logging of forest stands decreased by 40.4%, the volume of illegally harvested wood - by 54%. The recoverability of damage caused to forests as a result of violation of forest legislation has also increased. In general, there is a tendency to decriminalize the forest industry in the field of timber procurement and turnover”, he concluded.
