Work on formation of reserve stock for forest plant seeds is underway in the republic
In the Republic of Tatarstan, work is underway to form reserve stock for forest plant seeds. In total, 120 kg of seeds are planned to be prepared before the end of the year.
Let us recall that the reserve stock for seeds of forest plants was created by the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan in order to ensure reforestation and afforestation in the event of lean years. Seeds are stored in a specialized warehouse of the Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Leskhoz village of the Sabinskiy municipal district. Currently, the fund has 359 kg of coniferous seeds, including pines - 195 kg, spruce - 150 kg, larch - 14 kg.
For reference. The reserve stock contain seeds of the first class of quality with high germination energy, not infected by pests and without pathogenic microflora, mainly harvested at objects of a constant forest seed base, in highly productive plantations that have certificates confirming their sowing quality. In the harvest years, in the presence of an already formed reserve stock, it is updated, during which the available seeds are completely or partially replaced with freshly harvested ones.
