Forestry Department of the Volga Federal District discussed the results of work on forest reproduction in 2020
Today, the results of work on forest reproduction in 2020 were discussed at the Forestry Department of the Volga Federal District. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Department, Aleksandr Ornatsky.
The event was attended by representatives of forestry authorities of the Volga Federal District, incl. from the Republic of Tatarstan - Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Rais Gumerov, heads of departments of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Timur Galiyev, Fanil Akhmadullin and Azat Kurbanov.
During the meeting, the results of reforestation and afforestation in the regions of the Volga Federal District in the current year, the International campaign “Garden of Remembrance” and tasks for the coming period were reviewed.
It is worth noting that the forestry specialists of the Republic of Tatarstan were one of the first in the Volga Federal District to complete the 2020 spring forest season. Within its framework, reforestation works were carried out on the area of 2,304.6 hectares, including planting of forest crops - on 2,193 ha, afforestation - 102.6 ha, combined reforestation - 9 ha.
Currently, employees of subordinate institutions have begun work to promote natural reforestation. This method of forest reproduction provides for the creation of favorable conditions for natural regeneration of undergrowth of valuable species by mineralizing the soil surface, naturally overgrowing and preserving the undergrowth when felling trees. The work will be carried out in the framework of the regional project “Forests Conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the federal project “Forests Conservation” of the national project “Ecology” on a total area of 2,480 hectares.
