Work to sow the third rotation of seeds of coniferous and deciduous species is underway at the Forest Selection and Seed Center of the Republic of Tatarstan. “In total, it is planned to sow 3 million pieces of pine seeds and 1 million pieces of birch seeds. 10 people are involved in the work”, said the Engineer of the center Airat Akhtyamzyanov.
Let us recall that the production capacity of the FSSC of RT is 12 million pieces of seedlings with closed root system per year. As part of the first and second rotations, 5 million pieces of Scots pine seeds, 1 million pieces of spruce seeds, 1.2 million pieces of birch seeds and 800 thousand pieces of caragana seeds were sown here.
It should be noted that the production of standard planting material is an additional indicator of the regional project “Forests Conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan” within the framework of the federal project “Forests Conservation” of the national project “Ecology”. In 2019, 33.2 million seedlings were grown in the FSSC of RT and 50 basic forest nurseries (107% of the plan), including, conifers - 25.6 million pieces, hardwood - 6.4 million pieces, shrubs - 1.2 million pieces.
In 2020, it is planned to grow more than 30.9 million pieces of standard planting material.
