Implementation of the regional project “Forests Conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan” of the federal project “Forests Conservation” of the national project “Ecology” continues in Tatarstan. Within its framework, as of July 27 of this year, in the republic, work on promotion of natural reforestation has been carried out on the area of 850 hectares. This method of forest reproduction provides for the creation of favorable conditions for the natural regeneration of valuable species undergrowth by mineralization of the soil surface, natural overgrowth and preservation of undergrowth when felling trees. In total, such work this year will be performed on the area of 2,480 hectares.

Let us recall that earlier, according to a regional project, employees of the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan - forestry enterprises - carried out reforestation work on the area of 2304.6 ha. Including planting of forest cultures - on the area of 2,193 hectares, afforestation - on 102.6 hectares, combined reforestation - on 9 hectares.

Additional indicators of the regional project “Forests Conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan” are “Stock of seeds of forest plants for reforestation and afforestation, kg” and “Amount of grown planting material of forest plants, thousand pieces”. Their planned values for 2020 are 11.4 tons of seeds and 30.9 million units of seedlings, respectively.

To date, specialists from subordinate institutions of the Ministry have collected 529 kg of seeds, including pine - 387 kg, spruce - 103 kg, larch - 20 kg, other species - 19 kg. The bulk of the seeds will be collected in August and September this year.

For reference. The regional project “Forests Conservation in the Republic of Tatarstan” within the framework of the federal project “Forests Conservation” of the national project “Ecology” was launched in 2019. Its main goal is to ensure a balance of forest disposal and reproduction in a ratio of 100% by 2024. To achieve this goal, 2 target indicators have been established: “the ratio of the area of reforestation and afforestation to the area of cut and dead forest stands, %” and “damage from forest fires, million rubles”.
