Today the Ministry hosted a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Prevention and Suppression of Illegal Harvesting, Transportation, Processing, Sale and Export of Timber in the Republic of Tatarstan. The meeting was chaired by Ilgizar Zaripov, First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event was attended by representatives of the Kazan Inter-district Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, the Tatar Environmental Inter-district Prosecutor’s Office, the Tatarstan Customs of the Volga Customs Department of the Federal Customs Service, the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan, the Department of the Federal Tax Service for the Republic of Tatarstan, etc.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ramil Gilmashin, Acting Head of the State Forest Register, Forest Use and Forest Management Department of the Ministry made a report. He announced the data on timber harvesting by citizens for their own needs for the period 2016-2020.
Further, the meeting participants discussed the experience of the Arkhangelsk region, in which the Charter in the field of timber turnover was adopted in 2018. The agreement was developed for companies operating in the timber industry in the region. Enterprises that have signed this Charter undertake the obligation to ensure maximum transparency of their business, not to gain a competitive advantage through non-payment of tax payments, or participation in illegal VAT refunds schemes.
At the end of the meeting, Lilia Nabiullina, Acting Deputy Head of the Federal Tax Service for the Republic of Tatarstan and Airat Akhmerov, Head of the State Control and Supervision Department of the Ministry, made speeches.
Airat Akhmerov spoke about the results of implementation of the federal state forest supervision on the lands of the forest fund of the Republic of Tatarstan for the first half of 2020 and the operational and preventive action “Lesovoz’, which was held from June 15 to July 15 of this year. In particular, he said that during the operation, 222 raids were carried out, in which 222 state forest inspectors and 126 employees of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan took part. 332 vehicles loaded with timber were checked, 3 administrative cases were initiated under part 5 of article 8.28.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation for the transportation of timber without an accompanying document drawn up in accordance with the forest legislation.
