Ravil Kuzyurov spoke at a press conference about the implementation of the regional project “Preservation of Forests in the Republic of Tatarstan”
Today in IA “Tatar-inform” a press conference was held on the progress of the regional project “Preservation of Forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” in the framework of the federal project “Preservation of Forests” of the national project “Ecology” in 2020. The Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov spoke about the work performed and tasks for the upcoming period.
The minister recalled that the main goal of the regional project is to ensure a balance of forest depletion and reproduction in a ratio of 100% by 2024. To achieve this goal, two target indicators have been identified. The first indicator is “the ratio of the area of reforestation and afforestation to the area of felled and dead forest stands, %”. The design value of the indicator in 2020 is 69.8%.
“This year, the spring forestry season in the Republic of Tatarstan was opened on April 10 and ended on May 18. Due to the abnormally warm winter, we started work 10 days earlier. During this period, according to a regional project, employees of the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan - forestry enterprises - carried out reforestation work on an area of 2305 hectares. Of these, planting of forest crops - on an area of 2,193 hectares, afforestation - on 103 hectares, combined reforestation - on 9 hectares”, said Ravil Kuzyurov.
Currently, another type of work is being carried out in the republic, namely, assistance to natural reforestation. As of August 24, of this year, such events were held on an area of 1047 hectares. This method of forest reproduction provides for the creation of favorable conditions for natural regeneration of valuable species undergrowth by mineralization of the soil surface, natural overgrowth and preservation of undergrowth when felling trees. In total, such works will be performed on a total area of 2,480 hectares.
“According to the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, in 2019 the area of deforestation as a result of clear felling of ripe, overmature stands and clear sanitary felling amounted to 2,496 hectares, the area of dead forest stands - 167 hectares. Thus, today the value of the target indicator “The ratio of the area of reforestation and afforestation to the area of cut down and dead forest stands” is already 130% (181% of the plan)”,the minister emphasized.
Additional indicators of the regional project are “Stock of seeds of forest plants for reforestation and afforestation, kg” and “Amount of grown planting material of forest plants, thousand pieces.” Their planned values for the current year are 11.4 tons of seeds and 31 million pieces of standard planting material, respectively.
To date, specialists from subordinate institutions of the Ministry have harvested 546 kg of seeds, of which pine - 404 kg, spruce - 103 kg, larch - 16 kg, other species - 23 kg. A significant part of the seeds will be collected in September this year.
“The second indicator is called “damage from forest fires by year”. It is not set in numerical value due to the fact that it is the result of a spontaneous, unpredictable natural phenomenon”, - said Ravil Kuzyurov. – “According to the Information System for Remote Monitoring of the Federal Forestry Agency, this year, as of August 24, more than 600 thermal points were registered on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. Of these, 249 cases of fires were confirmed in the areas bordering the forest fund on a total area of 68.8 hectares. No fires were registered in the forest fund”.
In general, in 2020, 197.7 million rubles were allocated from the federal budget for the implementation of the regional project “Preservation of Forests in the Republic of Tatarstan”, incl. for the purchase of equipment - 46.4 million rubles. With these funds, 8 units were purchased. forest planting units, 21 units forest furrow cultivators, 7 units plows, 9 pcs. fire tankers, 2 units. small forest patrol complexes and 2 high pressure fire-fighting units.
