Employees of the branch of the Federal Budgetary Institution “Roslesozashchita” – “Center for Forest Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan” continue to monitor populations of pests using pheromone traps. At the end of last week, the specialists of the institution carried out work on the registration of the number of caught insects in traps installed on the territory of the forest fund of the Lubyanka forestry.

During the inspection, a low number of bark beetles was noted. In general, since the beginning of observations in May, a decrease in the average number of this forest pest in the forestry is observed; pathological mortality in the areas is within the normal range.

It should be noted that the typographer bark beetle is a dangerous pest for spruce stands. As a result of its vital activity, the trees are weakened, colonized by secondary pests and eventually die. Outbreaks of mass reproduction of the bark beetle-typographer are catastrophic and lead to the complete destruction of huge forests.
