Ravil Kuzyurov spoke at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan about the results of the implementation of the regional project “Preservation of Forests”

22 September 2020, Tuesday

Today a briefing was held at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan with the participation of Acting Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov. At it he spoke about the results of the implementation of the regional project “Preservation of Forests in the Republic of Tatarstan” within the framework of the federal project “Preservation of Forests” of the national project “Ecology” in 2020 and the environmental action “Save the Forest”.

Ravil Kuzyurov recalled that in 2020, 197.7 million rubles were allocated from the federal budget for the implementation of the regional project “Preservation of Forests”. These funds were used to carry out work on reforestation (143.4 million rubles), the formation of a stock of seeds of forest plants (7.9 million rubles) and the purchase of forest fire and forestry equipment (46.4 million rubles).

According to the regional project, this year in the Republic of Tatarstan, reforestation work was carried out on an area of 4785 hectares. Of these, planting forest crops on an area of 2193 hectares, afforestation on 103 hectares, combined reforestation on 9 hectares, assistance to natural reforestation on 2480 hectares.

“The first target indicator of the regional project is “The ratio of the area of reforestation and afforestation to the area of felled and dead forest stands, %”. It is calculated quite simply. So, in 2019, the area of deforestation as a result of clear felling of ripe, overmature plantings and clear sanitary felling amounted to 2,496 hectares, the area of dead forest plantations 167 hectares. The area of reforestation in 2020, as I said, is 4785 hectares. Thus, the value of the target indicator this year was 179%, Ravil Kuzyurov emphasized. In 2020, we not only achieved the target designated for implementation in 2024 (ensuring the balance of forest disposal and reproduction in a ratio of 100%), but also significantly exceeded the plan.”

Additional indicators of the regional project “Preservation of Forests” are “Stock of seeds of forest plants for reforestation and afforestation, kg” and “Amount of grown planting material of forest plants, thousand pcs.” Their planned values for the current year are 11455 kg of seeds and 30863 thousand seedlings, respectively.

As of September 22, 2020, specialists from the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan forestry enterprises collected 571 kg of seeds, of which pine 411 kg, spruce 103 kg, larch 34 kg, other species 23 kg. Most of the seeds will be harvested in October-December this year. According to the preliminary results of the inventory, 33.3 million pieces of standard planting material were grown in the basic forest nurseries of the republic this year.

“The second target is called “Forest Fire Damage by Year”. It is not set in numerical value due to the fact that it is the result of a spontaneous, unpredictable natural phenomenon, said Ravil Kuzyurov. According to the Information System of Remote Monitoring of the Federal Forestry Agency, 774 thermal points were registered this year as of September 22. Of these, 299 cases of fires were confirmed in areas bordering the forest fund on a total area of 74 hectares. No fires were registered in the forest fund.”

In addition, within the framework of the regional project “Preservation of Forests” in 2020, 9 units of fire-fighting tankers, 2 units of small forest patrol complexes, 2 high-pressure fire-fighting units, 8 units of ALP-1 forest planting units, 22 units of forest furrow cultivators KLB-1,7 were purchased and 7 units of plows PKL-70.

“On September 25 and 26 in the Republic of Tatarstan, tree planting events will take place within the framework of the All-Russian campaign “Save the Forest”. In total, it is planned to plant more than 1 million pieces of planting material (these are seedlings of Scots pine, European spruce, Siberian larch, small-leaved linden, common mountain ash and other tree species). You can clarify the planting sites on the campaign website and the portal of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan,” concluded Ravil Kuzyurov.
