The Forestry Department of the Volga Federal District discussed the use of digital forest inventory materials in the organization of protection, protection and reproduction of forests
A meeting chaired by the head of the department, Alexander Ornatsky, took place today at the Forestry Department of the Volga Federal District. The event was attended by representatives of forestry management bodies of the Volga Federal District, including from the Republic of Tatarstan ‒ employees of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Timur Galiev, Rail Sadykov, Ramil Shaikhutdinov.
During the meeting, proposals were discussed for introducing a new version of the Strategy for the Development of the Forestry Complex of the Russian Federation until 2030 and the use of digital forest inventory materials in organizing the use, protection, protection and reproduction of forests.
Separately, the meeting noted the positive experience of the Republic of Tatarstan, where a geoinformation system of the forest fund of the Republic of Tatarstan and a service for monitoring and controlling the state of the forest fund based on remote sensing data were developed. “Thanks to these tools, the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan has access to operational and up-to-date information about changes in forests for making management decisions and long-term forecasting,” noted Alexander Ornatsky.
