Today the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov met with the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kazan Arno Scheier. First Deputy Minister Ilgizar Zaripov took part in the meeting.
Opening the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov briefly dwelled on the state of the forestry complex of the Republic of Tatarstan and the priority tasks facing the industry specialists. In particular, he said that the total area of the republic's lands occupied by forests is 1 million 271 thousand hectares, the forest cover is 17.5%.
“Since 2013, we have been cooperating with the Technical University of Dresden. During this period, two joint research projects “Creation and use of forest plantations in the Republic of Tatarstan” and “Optimization of mixed plantations of pedunculate oak and small-leaved linden” were successfully implemented, ‒ Ravil Kuzyurov noted. ‒ This year, the implementation of the third project on the development of the concept of sustainable forestry in aspen stands began.”
Arno Scheyer thanked the leadership of the Ministry for the warm welcome. He spoke about the forestry and timber industry of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Further, the meeting participants discussed promising areas of interaction between the parties and opportunities for further cooperation.
