Head of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov held a meeting on preventing the spread of African swine fever in the republic
Today the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov held a videoconference meeting on the prevention of the spread of African swine fever in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event was attended by First Deputy Minister Ilgizar Zaripov, Business Manager Elmira Shagaeva, heads of forestry and directors of forestry enterprises of the republic.
During the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov informed the participants about the introduction of quarantine in the Republic of Tatarstan due to the disease of wild boars with African swine fever.
“As you know, on December 20, an ASF outbreak was identified among wild boars in the Nizhnyaya Kama National Park, Yelabuga region, ‒ the minister said. ‒ Also, this disease was detected on December 24 during monitoring studies of samples taken from wild boars, taken on vouchers in hunting farms of the Zainsk region.”
“Of course, it is impossible to restrict the movement of wild boars. There is a risk of the appearance of infected pigs and wild boars in other municipalities of the republic, ‒ added Ravil Kuzyurov. ‒ I ask you to provide full assistance to regional administrations, veterinary associations and departments of the committee on biological resources in solving these issues.”
