The Ministry discussed issues of prevention and suppression of illegal logging, transportation, processing, sale and export of timber

Today, the Ministry hosted a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the prevention and suppression of illegal harvesting, transportation, processing, sale and export of timber in the Republic of Tatarstan. The meeting was chaired by Ilgizar Zaripov, First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event was attended by representatives of the Tatar Environmental Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office, the Kazan Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office, the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Department of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan, the Department of Rosselkhoznadzor for the Republic of Tatarstan, the Department of the Federal Tax Service of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Interregional Department Rosimushchestvo in the Republic of Tatarstan and the Ulyanovsk region, a branch of FBU “Roslesozashchita” “Center for Forest Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan”, etc.

Airat Akhmerov, head of the department of state control and supervision of the Ministry, made a keynote speech on the interdepartmental preventive measures taken in 2020 at the meeting. “At the end of last year, Operation Spruce was organized in the Republic of Tatarstan. A total of 52 temporary stationary posts and 156 mobile patrol groups were created, 593 raids were carried out, said Ayrat Akhmerov. As a result of the operation, 18 facts of violation of forestry legislation were revealed. In all cases, administrative offenses were initiated against the perpetrators. The total damage caused to the forest fund amounted to 29.3 thousand rubles.”

The speaker also dwelled on the results of the “Lesovoz” operational and preventive measure. So, in 2020, as part of the operation, 440 raids were carried out with the participation of state forest inspectors and employees of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan, 603 vehicles loaded with timber were stopped and inspected at stationary posts. Based on the results of the “Lesovoz” event, 2 protocols were drawn up for the transportation of timber without an accompanying document drawn up in accordance with the forest legislation procedure.

At the end of the meeting, the proposals of the Volga Interregional Environmental Prosecutor's Office were discussed for inclusion in the work plan of the Interdepartmental Commission on the prevention and suppression of illegal harvesting, transportation, processing, sale and export of timber to the Republic of Tatarstan for 2021.
