27 May 2021, Thursday

In the Republic of Tatarstan, measures were taken to eliminate foci of harmful organisms on the territory of the forest fund of the Aznakaevsky and Bugulminsky forestries. In total, the work was carried out on an area of 173 hectares.

“The plots in these forestries were affected by the ringed silkworm. This pest poses a threat to forest and fruit species, especially oak and apple trees. Caterpillars infect leaf blades, forming spider nests. Often, the pest completely destroys foliage, especially in fruit trees, - said Alexey Mosunov, head of the forestry protection and protection sector of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan. - The treatment was carried out on the ground using a biological preparation.”

“In this particular case, we found outbreaks of forest pests in time and took timely measures to combat them, - added Alexey Mosunov. - We will continue to monitor the forest pathological state of forests in the republic, especially in these forest districts.”
