Forest protection is 90 years old!
Today, on the 7th of July, we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the first Russian aerial patrol flight in the forests. This event is considered to be the birthday of the FBU "Forest protection" - a center of attraction for the forward-thinking, initiative, and ambitious people distinguished by high professionalism, an inseparable fusion of mental strength and inflexibility before physical difficulties, and the desire for unquestionable victory over the fire.
At present, forest aviation operations are carried out on the territory of 45 regions of the Russian Federation. During the peak of the fire season FBU "Forest protection" attracts more than 100 aircrafts a day to monitor and extinguish forest fires. These are mainly An-2 airplanes and Mi-8 helicopters. By the results of the last year, the flight time of air crafts for forest protection amounted to almost 50 thousand hours. Millions of hectares of forests were saved from forest fires.
