Employees of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan "Kyzyl-Yulduz forestry" carry out the autumn sowing of oak acorns in the basic forest nursery. "To date, 700 kilograms of acorns have been sown on an area of 0.35 hectares, 10 people are involved in the work," said Ivan Bolshakov, an engineer for reforestation of the State Institution of the Republic of Tatarstan "Kyzyl-Yulduz forestry". "We plan to finish planting this week."
"The autumn sowing of acorns removes from foresters worries about storing seeds, their stratification, and choosing the right time in spring," added Ivan Bolshakov. "Now the climate has changed, warm winters. Therefore, acorns overwinter well, and seedlings will appear in June next year. In 2 years we will be able to use the seedlings for reforestation work."
