Today in the Republic of Tatarstan a mass planting of trees was organized as part of the All-Russian campaign "Save the Forest". In various locations of the republic, more than 20 thousand volunteers planted 1.2 million seedlings on an area of over 310 hectares.
The central event took place on the territory of the Children's Republican Clinical Hospital. Here, in honor of the doctors who selflessly worked during the pandemic, 300 spruces and pines were planted. Trees together with volunteers were planted by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov, and Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Sadykov.
"The republic pays the most serious attention to the development of forestry. The relevant ministry is working on increasing the fund every day, and such actions allow to instill in the participants a culture of careful attitude to the forest," noted the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
"Tatarstan is joining the "Save the Forest" campaign for the third time. Today trees are planted in all municipal districts of the republic. Near Kazan, the action took place at four more sites - near the villages of Tarlashi and Staroye Shigaleevo, as well as the residential area of Kulseitovo and near the village of Ivanovka. We received a lot of support from the volunteer corps. We are grateful to each of the participants for their help and caring attitude to the topic of preserving and increasing the forest resources of our native republic" commented the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov.
Thus, the most massive plantings took place in the village of Staroye Shigaleevo with the participation of the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov and volunteers of the National Council for Corporate Volunteering (NSKV), the ONF Molodezhka, and other organizations.
"Supporting such important initiatives for the country as "Save the Forest" at the regional level is a real opportunity to demonstrate the involvement of business in social and environmentally significant projects. In addition to the participation of corporate volunteers in the planting, companies also contribute to the restoration of the forest fund by purchasing tree seedlings. So, in 20 regions, including Tatarstan, thanks to the support of affiliated companies Philip Morris International, about 500 thousand trees will be additionally planted in Russia during the action," said Elena Kiyanova, Chair of the NSCV regional office in the Republic of Tatarstan.
According to Alexander Shadrikov, the republic is rightfully the flagship region on the environmental agenda. And the strong volunteer corps is the undisputed driver of such initiatives.
It should be reminded that the republican nature conservation actions for planting trees have been carried out by the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan since 2011. Their goal is to foster a respectful attitude towards the forest, to draw public attention to the problems of preserving and increasing forest resources. For 10 years, within the framework of the campaigns in Tatarstan, new forest plantations were planted on an area of more than 6.8 thousand hectares, 26.2 million planting material was used, and the total number of participants exceeded 455 thousand people.
For reference.
For the first time, the All-Russian campaign "Save the Forest" was held in the country in 2019. In two years, its participants have planted more than 80 million trees. The environmental initiative has become rightfully considered one of the largest in Russia.
This year, the All-Russian campaign "Save the Forest" started in August in Yakutia. This year's goal is to plant a record 70 million trees in support of the region's hardest hit by wildfires. The organizers of the action are the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, the Federal Forestry Agency, ANO National Priorities, and ANO Sad of Memory.
