The Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan discussed issues of ecology, decarbonization of industry, and the development of a "green" economy

A round table was held today at the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, where issues of ecology, decarbonization of industry, and the development of a "green" economy were considered. The discussion was attended by Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov, General Director of OAO Tatneftekhiminvest-holding Rafinat Yarullin, General Director of AO NIIneftepromkhim Ildar Gamilov, representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, PAO Tatneft, AO Transneft - Prikamye, PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim, JSC Tatenergo, JSC Tatenergosbyt, PJSC Kazanorgsintez, etc.

The meeting was opened by the head of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov. "Of course, the future belongs to the green economy, which contributes to the more rational use of natural resources and an improvement in the quality of life of the population. But for the transition to this model, a long period of transformation and modernization of existing industries is required", he noted. "Today we have gathered to discuss what is already being done in Tatarstan and the world in this direction."

Rafinat Yarullin, Director General of JSC Tatneftekhiminvest-holding, Natalia Malashenko, Director of Corporate Relations at UPM in Russia, and Timur Galiev, Head of the Forest Reproduction and Afforestation Department of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, spoke at the round table.

Rafinat Yarullin spoke about the principles, main directions of the green economy, leading countries in the implementation of environmental projects, trends in the forest industry, etc. "South Korea is one of the world leaders in the formation of a green economy. It pays attention to "green" modes of transport, alternative sources of freshwater, waste recycling technologies, development of parks, arrangement of rivers within the city," he said. "Also in South Korea, a system of "green payment cards" has been launched to stimulate the "green" consumption of goods produced with environmental innovations. These maps take into account the consumption of green goods and services, the use of public transport instead of personal, and the use of energy-efficient goods."

Natalia Malashenko informed about UPM's activities, the company's contribution to combating climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, circular economy, biofuels, and biomedical creation. In particular, she said that according to the strategy, the company plants 50 million trees annually.

Timur Galiev informed the participants of the round table about the state of forestry in the Republic of Tatarstan. He spoke about the ongoing work on reforestation and afforestation, growing standard planting material, certification, etc.

At the end of the round table, a discussion and exchange of views on the possibilities of developing a "green" economy took place.
