Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan: in 2021, 40.2 tons of seeds of the main forest-forming species were procured within the framework of the national project "Ecology"
In the Republic of Tatarstan, the harvesting of seeds of the main forest-forming species within the framework of the national project "Ecology" has been completed. So, according to the data of the department of forest reproduction and afforestation of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan, in total this year 40.2 thousand kg of seeds were harvested, of which pine - 395 kg, spruce - 207 kg, larch - 38 kg, birch - 1,100 kg, linden - 40 kg, ash - 790 kg, oak - 37,600 kg.
Seed harvesting was carried out on forest plots, as well as forest seed-growing objects: forest seed plantations with a total area of 91 hectares and permanent forest seed plots - 1,251 hectares.
"The collection of seeds of forest plants is an additional indicator of the regional project "Preservation of Forests in the Republic of Tatarstan" within the framework of the federal project "Preservation of Forests" of the national project "Ecology"," commented the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov. "This year we have exceeded the established plan by 251%. It became possible to harvest this amount of seeds due to the high yield of oak and birch. All seeds were tested at the Center for Forest Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan, certificates of their quality were issued."
